Chakra Healing Concepts
The term Chakras comes from the Sanskrit word Chakra (pronounced as chucra similar
to Church and craft). This word means Wheel. The body according to ancient Hindu texts has wheels of rotating energies. There are primarily seven major chakras associated with the physical body and energy. The health of an area of the physical body
and the condition of its associated chakra are considered interdependent (e.g., when a chakra is clear and vital, the associated portions of the body should
also be in the optimum state. When a healer clears the chakras, the body becomes revitalized to make efforts for realizations of dreams and desires.
Base Chakra
The base chakra is located in the
area of the base of the spine. It is the center of vitality, physical energy,
and self- preservation.
It activates and strengthens the will, assists one in
living on the physical plane, and stimulates the life-sustaining energies. It
is the location of the resting “Kundalini” – the serpentine energy coiled
inside every human being. The colors associated with the base chakra include
red and black.
Sacral Chakra
The sacral chakra is
located in the area just below the navel. It is the center of desire,
emotion, creativity, sexuality, and intuition. It stimulates the
creative life force, forces required for existence on the physical
plane, and the bases of life, itself. The colors associated with this
chakra include orange and blue/green.
Solar Plexus Chakra
The solar plexus chakra
is located at the solar plexus area, below the breastbone. It is the
center of personal power, ambition, intellect, astral force, desire and
emotions based on intellect, and touch. The third chakra contains a
protective energy, protecting against any negativity which is contained
within any of the other chakras. The color associated with the chakra
is yellow.
Heart Chakra
The heart chakra is
located in the center of the chest. It is the center of compassion,
love, and group consciousness. The heart chakra unifies the loving
energy of the heart and the analytical energy of the intellect. The
associated colors include pink and green
Throat Chakra
The throat chakra is
located at the neck. It is the center of communication, sound, and
expression of creativity via thought, speech, and writing. The
associated color is blue.
Third-Eye Chakra
The third-eye chakra is
located above the eyebrows at the center of the forehead. It is the
center of psychic power, higher intuition, energies of the spirit,
magnetic forces, and light. It- enables focusing of the higher intuitive
information. It also assists in the purification of negative tendencies
and in the elimination of selfish attitudes. The color associated with
the third-eye chakra is indigo
Crown Chakra
The crown chakra is
located at the crown or the top of the head. It is the center of
spirituality, enlightenment, dynamic thought, and energy. When
stimulated and clear, it enables one to see the truth concerning
illusory ideals, materialistic pursuits, self-limiting concepts, pride,
and vanity; it further allows one to experience continuous
self-awareness and conscious
detachment from personal emotions. The
color associated with this chakra is violet.

The areas where few
energy flows intersect are called minor chakras. These minor chakras
include, for example, centers at the palm of the each hand, at the sole
of each foot, behind each eye, in front of each ear where the jawbone is
connected, above each breast, and at the back of each knee.
Chakras can be opened
by a variety of methods. One method is via the use of a laser/aura
cleaning wand or wand-type crystal, rotated in a counter-clockwise
direction or in a clockwise direction.
